Soft Ford F-150 tonneau covers may come in different materials.  Vinyl and leather are among the most commonly used.  These materials require special care in cleaning.  This means there are certain chemicals you need to avoid in cleaning your soft tonneau cover.  Two of the most commonly avoided cleaning solutions are citrus based and petroleum based.  These solutions damage the surface of your soft tonneau cover.  You can opt for water-based cleaners or mild soap and warm water to clean up your soft tonneau cover.  These are enough to remove any debris and gunk form your soft tonneau cover’s software.

Spot checking your tonneau cover every now and then can save your tonneau from further damage.  Finding signs of wear and tear and fixing them right away may ensure its longevity.  Just don’t do the fixing yourself.  You can employ the help of a professional to hem any tear on your tonneau cover.  Apart from checking the surface of your tonneau cover, you also need to check its other parts such as the clamps and bolts which secure your tonneau cover to your truck bed.  Check for any sign of rusting or loosening.  Once you have done checking, add oil to metal clamps and retighten any lose nuts and bolts.

Lastly, rainy and winter season can be especially harsh to your soft tonneau cover.  Cold weather tends to shrink your tonneau cover and this would require you to adjust your tonneau cover’s tightness again when better days arrive.  During these seasons, you can remove your tonneau cover from your pickup truck and store it when it’s not in use.  Also, do not let water stand on your soft tonneau cover.  This stretches out your tonneau cover, making it less effective as a means to protect your cargo.  Also, opening your soft tonneau cover with water on it could get your cargo wet.
